Scouts holding cheque from Nationwide

September 29, Nationwide Marlborough presented Rainbows (girl-guiding 4-7 year olds) and 2nd Marlborough Scout Group with cheques for £500. The money had been raised through second hand book sales in the Nationwide branch, cake sales and donations. Natasha Carvalho and Hayley Cartwright from Nationwide said, “Every year we, at Nationwide, choose a different charity to support. This year we chose the Scouts and Rainbows. We are very happy to support the local community.”

Rachel Hillier, Rainbows helper, said, “This is amazing and we’re extremely grateful. The money will fund a Rainbows trip. Previous trips have been to Cadbury’s World, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Lego Land. It will make a huge difference.”

Sarah Hart from the 2nd Marlborough Scout Group said, “It’s fabulous that the local community can support us as a Scout group. We will use the money for a plethora of outdoor activities such as group camp, laser quest and paddle boarding.”

Both groups are looking for volunteers. Rainbows girl guiding runs in Manton Village Hall from 5-6 pm on Tuesday. If you can help please contact Wendy Beattie, District Commissioner for Marlborough Guides on 077557916750. For information about joining or volunteering with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts click here.
